Queen Vanessa month + Alpha/Beta info

Dev Screenshot of Queen Vanessa from Chapter 2 - The Subcon Forest

Hello hello! This is our first month working after the Kickstarter, and we’re calling it Queen Vanessa month!
But who’s the Queen? Ack, we can’t spoil yet! Rest assured you’ll be experiencing a change in gameplay with her involved, though!!

Beta/Alpha info

The question we’re asked the most is: when is beta/alpha available?

The Beta will be available when  the game is content-complete, that is, we’ve added everything to the game and just need to optimize it as well as fix bugs. This is estimated to be around a month before final release!

The Alpha will be available before the game is content-complete! This means you get an exclusive early look at the game, so while you can expect a significant amount of bugs, it also gives you a good opportunity to provide us with early feedback and help us iron out the game before the beta! When exactly this is, is hard to tell – it will be at a point where we think you’ll have an enjoyable experience, but also without being able to provide a complete game. It could be anywhere from a month till four months before release, maybe even earlier! It all depends on how confident we feel in our prototype before we move on to alpha.

Hope this answered your question regarding beta and alpha!

Physical Rewards

A lot of you have been asking regarding when we ship the physical rewards, and this is something we’re still discussing – we have the option of either sending it all early but without the actual game, or sending it late but with the game. The best option will become more clear to us as we make progress on Steam Greenlight (please vote for us!) and get an insight on how Steam handles keys!

We’re still working on the shop! Stay tuned on that one 😀

“….and get an insight on how Steam handles keys!”? I hope youse are not planning on giving the physical game Steam DRM!
I bought the physical game perk on the Kickstarter because I thought/hoped it would be DRM free…

Oh, sorry! I forgot youse were thinking of giving digital copies free with physical! That might be what the codes would’ve been for… At least I hope so…

Hi Cobra, the physical package is only the box, please read the FAQ on our Kickstarter 😛

Thanks guys for giving us info on the alpha and beta. I know a lot of people are excited to get their hands on this game (including me) and it can get stressful with everyone wondering when you’ll release the alpha version. Take your time with it and do your best. I believe in you guys!

Personally, I would love to get the physical goodies as soon as you could possibly get them out to the public and sending the keys via email later. If I may make a suggestion, a poll would be a good idea to see what the fans would want, and from there see how likely it would be to actually provide that.

Keep up the great work though, this game is going to be absolutely fantastic!

Will the Alpha be the whole game though or just 1 Stage?

Judging by what the post said, it’s probably the entire game (more or less) without much of the polish needed to call it complete.

I kinda forgotten how much I paid to the donation, but are you fine with allowing me to participate in the alpha and/or beta? You’ll get nothing but good feedback and praise from me and my subscribers if I ever plan on making a video about it. ^^

If I order the deluxe edition, will both copies receive alpha/beta access? Or just one?

Is there a way for those of us who contributed to the Kickstarter to be able to pay the difference for early alpha/beta access?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. But for the people who supported and got alpha/beta in the kickstarter, are we going to be emailed when we’re going to be able to alpha/beta or do we need to check back here to get it?

I am very excited about this game! The graphics are creative, gameplay looks AMAZING and the story is not something to wave a stick at, because there might not be enough space to fit a stick! I can’t wait until A Hat in Time comes out in 2014, I hope that this project will earn lots of good reviews. 9.75% in my books!
